About Me... what's to know??

I'm 52, married with 2 adult daughters... both have flown the coop but are still in the area and visit often. Unfortunately neither have decided to make us Grandparents yet. Wife and I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and really don't do more than take care of them and clean the house... or so it seems. I have decided to go back to school and get a degree. I used to be the computer guy that everybody used for help with Excel spreadsheets or Access databases. Retired from the military in 2013 and thought I'd find something new to do. I bounced around doing a little of this and a lot of that and when I finally came to my senses and realized I should have stayed in the computer world... I also came to the conclusion that the computer world moved on without me and I had a lot of re-learning to do.

So in Spring 2026 I'll be going back to school for a BS in CIS with a concentration in Software Engineering and Database Design. First 2 years will be at Blinn College and last 2 will be at Texas A&M University - Kileen.

In the meantime I've been learning Python on Boot.dev and learning how to Vibe code... which TBH is likely what the industry will be moving to in the next few years. Should probably get a jump on it now. I've used a few different platforms but have finally settled down on Lovable.dev and using Cursor for most of my coding.

Other than that I'm Gen X to my core so if you get offended easily... I'll probabaly offend you, and not be sorry about it. I can play well with others but prefer not to. I'm really good coding at home watching my cats play. I'll probably never get another job that isn't 100% remote. My goal is to retire back in Okinawa, Japan where the wife is from or Bali if she would want to go there.
